As researchers delve deeper into the effect diet and certain foods have on people with type 2 diabetes, they have become to discover that many common foods that have were once thought of as safe and even healthy for diabetics to eat may in fact be making the condition worse.  The issue is that many of these foods are being shown to cause chronic inflammation and are causing constant insulin spikes and instability in blood sugars – which continues to advance the disease rather than reverse it.

The side effects and risks of diabetes are well documented – with side effects ranging from vision problems, kidney damage, painful nerve conditions, high blood pressure, irritability, risk of stroke, hearing loss and the significant increase in risk of having a heart attack.

Hope on the Horizon

For those struggling with being a type 2 diabetic, there appears to be hope on the horizon in what some are calling a radical new approach to nutrition.

Researchers have made significant progress in the creation of an eating strategy that showing exceptional results on diabetic patients based on the idea of removing foods that cause inflammation and hidden insulin spikes from patient’s diets.

As more evidence becomes available, there has been far more research being dedicated to treating the disease with nutrition, rather than pharmaceutical drugs.

” The one issue we face in our research is that type 2 diabetes is a massive cash cow for the big drug companies ” Johnson says.  ” I know its frustrating to believe but none of these drugs are designed to cure or reverse diabetes – they are simple designed to keep you alive for as long as possible so they can make as much money as possible of your illness.  There is almost no push from the government or health insurance companies for physicians to treat their patients with nutritional methods over prescribing new pills and more insulin injections. ”

In fact, just three companies control the entire production of insulin in the United States and costs have more than doubled in the past 3 years for patients – and they stand to lose billions if in fact researchers and supporters of controlling type 2 diabetes with nutrition – like Doctor Oz are in fact correct.

In part two of this report, we look at how one research company has been achieving outstanding results in reversing diabetes in their patients be eliminating foods that cause chronic inflamtion.

If you are one of the 27 million American’s diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes, then you’ve already asked yourself if it’s possible to reverse and even cure diabetes.  The answer to that depends on many different variables including how advanced your condition is – but if you believe Doctor Oz – then you have a 90% chance of reversing the disease.

Up until a few years ago, many experts believe Type 2 diabetes was an incurable disease that gets worse with time.  But new research raises the exciting possibility that specific nutrition plans and changes in diet may reverse the disease in many people with type 2 diabetes.

It’s estimated that women diagnosed with type 2 diabetes by the time they’re 40 will die 14 years sooner on average; for men, almost 12.

Dr Oz

A English clinical trial studied the effects of a strict diet of people who had lived with Type 2 diabetes for up to decades. Nearly half of those studied had a remission that lasted six months after the diet was over.  While the study was isolated, the finding offers hope to millions who have been told they must live with the intractable disease.

“This is a radical change in our understanding of Type 2 diabetes,” said professor Dr. Roy Taylor, “If we can get across the message that ‘yes, this is a reversible disease — that you will have no more diabetes medications, no more sitting in doctors’ rooms, no more needles, no more excess health charges’ — that is enormously motivating.”

Type 2 diabetes develops when the body cannot use insulin properly or make enough insulin, so the body cannot properly use or store glucose (a form of sugar) and sugar backs up into the bloodstream, raising blood sugar levels.

While some previous studies have shown that blood sugars can normalize after weight loss, endocrinologists said they were impressed by the persistence of the lower blood sugar levels for months after embarking on a specific diet designed to reverse the disease.

A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine determined that more than 90 percent of type 2 diabetes cases can be prevented by lifestyle changes. The disease is often triggered by poor diet and inactivity, because fat interferes with the body’s ability to use insulin, the hormone that ferries glucose from our bloodstream into our cells. When glucose can’t get into the cells, it builds up in the blood and can lead to problems ranging from poor circulation to nerve damage, kidney failure, and blindness.

Even short-term remission can reduce some of the serious complications associated with diabetes, like nerve damage, kidney damage, loss of vision, heart attacks and strokes. The problem is professional weight loss programs are expensive and often not covered by most insurance plans, and physicians — who traditionally are often not well-versed in nutrition — may not take the time to counsel patients about proper diet.

As more evidence becomes available, there has been far more research being dedicated to treating the disease with nutrition, rather than pharmaceutical drugs.

” The one issue we face in our research is that type 2 diabetes is a massive cash cow for the big drug companies ” Johnson says.  ” I know its frustrating to believe but none of these drugs or common treatment plans are even the slightest bit designed to cure or reverse diabetes – they are simple designed to keep you alive in a state of illness for as long as possible so they can make as much money as possible from your disease.  There is zero push from the government or health insurance companies for physicians to treat their patients with nutritional methods over prescribing new pills and more insulin injections. ”

In fact, just three companies control the entire production of insulin in the United States and costs have more than doubled in the past 3 years for patients – and they stand to lose billions if type 2 diabetes can be controlled with nutrition like Doctor Oz and other physicians are claiming.

In part two of this report, we look at how one research company has been achieving outstanding results in reversing diabetes in their patients be eliminating foods that cause chronic inflammation.

Let’s face it, wrinkles are one of those things that many of us would like to avoid for as long as possible. If you’re someone who is starting to experience the onset of wrinkles, or you’ve been dealing with wrinkles for a while now, there are ways to help reduce them.

Sure, there are many creams and potions we can try to help reduce and prevent wrinkles, but nothing beats a natural remedy. So let me introduce some of the best natural remedies for reducing wrinkles.

Wrinkles are a normal part of aging

When you think of wrinkles, you probably think of your parents, your grandparents, or even how the president has gained many of them once their job is said and done. While we would all like to stay looking young forever, it’s just not realistic. There are many factors that go into the development and prevention of wrinkles. But it’s important to remember that wrinkles are practically unavoidable as long as you live a long life.

Why do we get wrinkles?
No matter how healthy someone lives, it’s a guarantee that your skin will age sooner or later. The good thing is that it’s normal, totally harmless, and everyone has to deal with it. But why do we get wrinkles? The main explanation is that wrinkles form when the skin becomes thin, and starts sagging. As skin ages, the connective tissue starts to become weak, and the collagen and elastin in your skin start to break down. This is what creates the wrinkles we see on our bodies.

Common places where wrinkles appear are on the face, neck, hands, and forearms. The most common reasons wrinkles start to appear or happen excessively are things like too much sun exposure, smoking, drug usage, stress, weight loss, lack of vitamin E, among many other causes.

Home Remedies for Reducing Wrinkles

Now that we’ve covered the reasons why they appear on our skin, it’s time to get into tips for preventing wrinkles.

These natural remedies are easy to do in the comfort of your home, and some of the items may even be readily available in your cupboard.

1. Healthy Oils

One of the easiest remedies to help reduce or prevent wrinkles is with the use of healthy oils. The best oils to use:

extra virgin olive oil
virgin coconut oil
argan oil
rosehip seed oil
and avocado oil.
We all know that dry skin is easier to damage than skin that is properly moisturized. Not to mention, the oils we just listed are high in vitamin A and E antioxidants.

How to use it

The way you use these oils is the same way you would use any lotion. Use a little bit of oil (a little goes a long way) and rub it into the affected areas. This is going to help repair and regenerate skin cells. Healthy oils will be effective in protecting and moisturizing your skin. Even more-so than your typical lotion.

2. Fenugreek

Fenugreek is commonly used in culinary dishes as well as for homeopathic remedies. In the case of prevention and reduction of wrinkles, you can use fenugreek leaves, seeds, or oil to help firm the skin and regenerate cells. The vitamins that fenugreek leaves contain can easily be absorbed by the body, making it a very effective remedy.

One way to incorporate fenugreek into your daily routine is to make a paste from it’s leaves. Apply the paste to your face, or the affected area, and leave it on while you sleep.

Another method is to wash your face with water boiled and infused with fenugreek seeds. You can also use fenugreek oil directly on your wrinkles.

3. Ginger

Due to it’s high antioxidant content, ginger is a great remedy for avoiding wrinkles. It works by preventing the breakdown of elastin in the skin. Because of it’s ability to inhibit one of the main causes for the formation of wrinkles and fine lines on your skin, ginger is definitely something you should use if you want to look younger.

How to

It can be used in two different ways. The first method calls for a pinch of grated ginger and a tablespoon of honey to be eaten every morning. The second method is to drink freshly brewed ginger tea two times (or more) every day.

4. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is notoriously known for having many benefits for the skin. The plant itself contains malic acid, which is what helps improve the elasticity of your skin, thus reducing wrinkles. It’s no wonder why the general consensus is that aloe vera is amazingly beneficial for your skin for many different reasons.

How to

It is best to get the benefits straight from the plant by cutting a leaf, and extracting the gel. Simply apply the gel to your skin, leave it for 20 minutes, and wash it off with some warm water. An alternative method is to mix the aloe vera gel with vitamin E liquid from a capsule. Just apply the mix to your wrinkles, leave it on for 30 minutes, then wash off with warm water.

5. Almonds

Being a good source of fiber, iron, zing, calcium, vitamin E, folic and oleic acid, it’s no wonder why almonds are one of our favorite super foods. All those nutrients can be utilized to help delay aging, as well as reduce and prevent wrinkles.

Instructions

To gain the benefits, you can use either almonds themselves, or alternatively, almond oil. Use raw almonds to make a paste by soaking them in raw milk overnight, removing the skin, and grinding into a thick paste. Apply to your skin, leave it for up to 30 minutes, then wash it off. Alternatively, you can massage the almond oil into your skin.

6. Carrots

We love carrots for it’s high content of vitamin A, an important antioxidant that helps us produce collagen to keep the skin nice and smooth.

It’s easy to use carrots in our everyday lives. One method is to blend boiled carrots and honey to create a paste, then apply it to your face to set for 30 minutes. The easiest way to gain the benefits from carrots is by simply eating raw carrots several times per week.

7. Bananas

Known as one of the favorite fruits of the world, bananas are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can be extremely beneficial in the fight against wrinkles.

Instructions

Simple use the paste of two mashed, ripe bananas on the areas of skin with wrinkles. Leave it on for a minimum of 30 minutes, then follow it up with a wash and a good moisturizer. This would be a good time to use one of the healthy essential oils we mentioned earlier.

8. Pineapple

This tropical fruit contains the enzymes to help improve your skin’s elasticity, moisturization, and the ability to remove dead skin as well. You also get the benefits of antioxidants, fibers, and many other vitamins that are beneficial for your skin’s health.

How to

A simple way to use pineapple is by rubbing the flesh onto the wrinkles of your skin. Leave the skin to dry for about 20 minutes, them rinse off with water. You can also use the juice of a green pineapple, but leave it on for five minutes instead of 20.

9. Lemon Juice

You may have heard about lemon juice and it’s benefits for your skin. This also means it can help you get rid of wrinkles as well. The citric acid it contains works as an exfoliant and dead skin remover. It’s also deep cleansing and fades blemishes such as scars, wrinkles, and dark circles around eyes.

Directions

The easiest way to use lemon juice is to rub a little bit into your skin, leave it for up to 10 minutes, and wash it off with some water. You can also make a face mask with 1 teaspoon of yogurt, 1 teaspoon of honey, as well as vitamin E oil with your lemon juice. Leave the mask on for up to 20 minutes.

10. Water

We already know that moisturized skin is much better protected from damage compared to dry skin. There is no better way to moisturize than from the inside out. By staying hydrated with water, the skin’s moisture level is maintained.

Drinking more water is the easiest thing you can do to help prevent wrinkle formation. Try to only drink water that is filtered and/or pure to avoid trace chemicals. Try to aim for a minimum of two liters (8.5 cups) per day.

Other Things You Should Do…
While you can do these things religiously, the natural methods are not complete without an improvement of your lifestyle. If you find that these home remedies are not enough by themselves, of you want to get the most out of your natural treatment, make sure to do these other important things too.

Get enough sleep
Not getting enough sleep can cause many negative effects aside from speeding up the aging process. The sweet spot for sleep seems to be between 7 and 9 hours every night. Make sure to sleep on your back, because sleeping on your stomach or side can cause you to develop what is known as “sleep lines”[1]. If that seems impossible, then a silk pillowcase could help you out by allowing the skin to retain moisture through the night [2].

Avoid cigarettes and smoke
Everybody knows that smoking is bad for your overall health. Because smoking messes with your body’s blood circulation, the blood supply to your skin is decreased. This makes for skin that is loose with a gray color to it. The carbon monoxide in the smoke also leaves your skin dry. It doesn’t stop there, because smoking also depletes the body of nutrients (such as vitamin C) that are important for skin repair, it actually accelerates aging.

Avoid soap
Contrary to popular belief, it’s actually not necessary to wash your face with soap every morning. Water alone will be enough. Before and after exercising, after work, and before bed, use a cleanser that is moisturizing instead of soap. Also keep in mind that soap can mess with your pH balance, making your skin prone to damage and wrinkle formation.

If you need to clean makeup or dirt off your face, then opt for natural cleaners like witch hazel or tea tree oil. Always make sure to moisturize after washing to keep the skin hydrated.

Don’t stress too much
Stress is one of the most destructive things for your body. It’s harmful to your DNA cells, meaning you can age faster. While stress is unavoidable, it’s best to learn how to manage your stress by making a few changes to your lifestyle. Things to do are limit caffeine, eat a well balanced diet while avoiding processed foods, and even try meditating and yoga to find some inner peace.

Exercise regularly
Exercising is a great way to keep your health in check. Not to mention how great it is to help manage the stress you deal with on a day to day basis. The best way to exercise is for less than 90 minutes, and make sure you get out some sweat! Sweat is great for you because it releases toxins while keeping the skin moisturized.

Use less makeup
It’s understandable that make-up can help you look better, but only when it’s on. A lot of makeup actually contains harmful chemicals for your skin and body. Especially foundations and powders are known for being big culprits in the early onset of wrinkles in women. Opt for all organic, natural and light makeup, or limit the amount you wear.

Minimize Sugar Intake
Sugar is one of the biggest causes of the health problems we experience. While we know it causes diabetes and obesity, it’s important to realize it also contributes to creation of wrinkles. Reducing your sugar intake might be hard at first, but it’s definitely worth it in the long run. Not only will we be preventing wrinkles, your taste palette will improve, making healthy foods more enjoyable.

Everything you need to know about Crow’s Feet

Regardless of whether you call them laugh lines, smile lines, or simply fine lines, one of the first—and most stubborn—signs of age are crow’s feet around the eyes. While we have these cute names for them, crow’s feet are actually those tiny wrinkles that appear around your eyes. It’s common knowledge that when it comes to the signs of age in skin, the eyes are the first to show it. Crow’s feet can appear as early as your mid-twenties for some people and much older for others. Regardless of when they appear or how visible they are, crow’s feet are the frustrating aging skin concern that’s almost impossible to avoid.

Crow’s feet are dynamic wrinkles that are caused by repeated facial movement. So if you squint or smile, you’re more likely to have crow’s feet. Crow’s feet are typically the first signs of aging and commonly appear in your late 20’s. So, how do you get rid of crow’s feet? Read on to find out.

What are Crow’s Feet

Most people realize that crow’s feet are the fine lines and wrinkles that live at the corners of your eyes. That’s typically where the understanding ends. For a skin condition that is so common—inevitable even—many people are unaware of what’s really going on with their skin and why crow’s feet are so common and difficult to manage.

Crow’s feet are one of the first signs of age and typically the most visible. You’ll see the first indication of crow’s feet appearing much earlier in life than other common characteristics of aging skin like sagging, wrinkles, and dullness. The reason for this is that the skin around your eyes is the thinnest and weakest making it extremely susceptible to premature aging.

Generally, we talk about crow’s feet as a singular skin condition but there are actually many dynamics that are involved. Specifically, there are two main types of crow’s feet that are identified as dynamic lines and static facial lines. Crow’s feet that are classified as dynamic lines occur because of the muscle movement under the skin. The expressions of squinting, smiling, and frowning is what causes this type of crow’s feet to appear. Static facial lines are the type of crow’s feet that are always present no matter the action. These crow’s feet are there even during times when the face is resting like during sleep. Static facial lines are the type of crow’s feet that people associate with aging skin.

Crow’s Feet Causes

When it comes to understanding how crow’s feet are caused, it’s important to first know that, this is a sign of age that is virtually unavoidable. There are things that attribute to crow’s feet appearing earlier in life and ways to help reduce their appearance but, most crow’s feet causes are simply unavoidable aspects of life.

In general, all signs of age including crow’s feet, appear on the skin due to the production decrease of essential proteins and a slower skin cell regeneration process. The essential proteins collagen and elastin are needed to help skin retain its elasticity and strength so once their production is slowed, skin begins to sag and become less firm. And with the eyes having the least amount of fatty tissue, crow’s feet are first to appear.

Crow’s feet causes that are within our control are overexposure to the sun, free radical damage, and even smoking. Sun exposure is a well-known culprit of premature aging in the skin and not protecting the eyes when out in the sun will lead to quicker and more visible crow’s feet. Free radicals are another well-known cause of aging in skin and when not combatted, they can cause extensive damage. Smoking, along with its many other negative health disadvantages, is another cause of premature aging in skin and the cause of early crow’s feet.

Even if you went above and beyond to protect the skin around your eyes from sun exposure, free radicals, and avoiding harmful activities like smoking, you’d still encounter crow’s feet at some point in your life. The crow’s feet causes that are out of our control are simply the constant facial expressions we do on a daily basis. Whether that’s laughing or smiling, squinting or straining your eyes to see, or even frowning or expressions of anger, over a lifetime and with a reduction in collagen and elastin, crow’s feet will eventually appear.

The easiest way to prevent crow’s feet is to smile and squint less. Remember, facial expression is the primary cause of crow’s feet.

How to get rid of Crow’s Feet

Here is a list of crow’s feet treatment options:

Preventing & Treating Crow’s Feet

With the general causes of crow’s feet known, there are people who still look for ways to prevent crow’s feet for good. And while there is no magic product or procedure that can grant that wish, there are a few good skincare habits you can develop to prevent crow’s feet for as long as possible. Sunscreen is your first defense against signs of premature aging in skin. Making sure to apply sunscreen daily, even on days where it isn’t sunny is crucial to preventing crow’s feet from appearing prematurely. Another defense is incorporating a collagen boosting eye cream in your late twenties, early 30s to hold off the signs of crow’s feet for as long as possible. And always using facial products that are antioxidant rich to protect the skin from environmental free radicals is another way to combat the appearance of crow’s feet. Taking care to follow each of these good skincare habits can help your skin and eyes look more youthful, longer.

Once those first signs of crow’s feet finally do appear, all is not lost. There are countless products, treatment, and procedures that can help reduce the appearance of crow’s feet with small improvements and dramatic transformations possible. Treatment options for crow’s feet vary from over-the-counter topical products to simple noninvasive treatments to more intense skin procedures. The common goals for all crow’s feet treatments are to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and help prevent them from becoming deeper and more visible. The right crow’s feet treatment option for you will depend on your needs, budget, and personal preference. We’ll discuss each one in detail including their pros and cons.

Crow’s Feet Eye Creams

The simplest method to get rid of crow’s feet is an over-the-counter or prescription grade topical cream. Crow’s feet creams will contain ingredients like retinoids and alpha hydroxy acids that work to prevent collagen breakdown and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Most over-the-counter crow’s feet eye creams are sufficient enough to see improvement in the skin, but for those with more stubborn crow’s feet, your dermatologist can prescribe something similar with higher doses of the main anti-aging ingredients.

You Might Like:  Three Amazing Skin Creams You Can Get For Free

Pros: When incorporated into your skincare routine and used on a consistent basis, crow’s feet creams are highly effective. They will help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and help skin the around the eyes look more youthful

Cons: Crow’s feet creams aren’t able to prevent new wrinkles from appearing and they aren’t able to boost your skin’s collagen and elasticity. They also can be pretty pricey for an option that has to be used daily.

Botox for Crow’s Feet

A more dramatic option for getting rid of crow’s feet is Botox. Crow’s feet Botox are botulinum toxin injections that help relax the muscles under the skin. This procedure helps to smooth crow’s feet making their appearance less visible. Botox is FDA approved and should only be done by a licensed doctor.

Pros: Crow’s feet Botox injections are a very quick and noninvasive treatment that can be done in a matter of minutes with results that can up to three months. Being such a simple procedure, there isn’t generally a recovery time so you can get the crow’s feet injections in an afternoon and go about your day with ease and immediate results. Most people see a noticeable difference within a few days.

Cons: A Botox injection for crow’s feet can be a bit uncomfortable as it’s done with a needle and comes with some possible side effects like soreness, bruising, and headaches. Botox is also pretty expensive ranging anywhere from $300 – $500 and would have to be done a few times a year to continue its effectiveness.

Alternative cosmetic injections include Xeomin and Dysport.

How about fillers? We don’t recommend fillers (such Juvederm and Restylane) for crow’s feet. Fillers are effective on static lines that are a result of collagen loss.

Laser Treatments for Crow’s Feet

Another option for treating crow’s feet is CO2 fraction ablative laser resurfacing surgery. This laser treatment for crow’s feet involves using laser technology to remove layers of the skin, helping new skin cells to move to the surface. Newer lasers such as Fraxel are also also suitable.

Pros: Laser treatments for crow’s feet can be effective and lasts the longest out of any other treatment. By removing the top layer of skin and enabling the new skin cells to appear, skin is able to look healthier and more youthful for an extended period of time. When done correctly, laser treatment for crow’s feet can last up to a year However, results are usually minor.

Cons: While laser treatments are potent, it comes with the most risks and is accompanied by some recovery time. Laser treatment can cause pain, swelling, bleeding while the skin heals from the treatment. They can leave scars, especially with darker skin types. Results rarely meet patients expectations. It’s also extremely expensive with quality laser treatments costing anywhere from $1,700 – $2,500.

Typically, a combination of treatments are required to achieve the desired results.

Let’s first be clear that aging is more of a mindset than something that’s set in stone. And, your lifestyle can be instrumental in slowing down (or speeding up) the hands of time. Toward that end, a smart diet and exercise is about as close as you can get to a real-world fountain of youth. The looking good on the beach though, the right types of exercise can prevent age-related muscle loss, stave off cognitive decline and even trigger mitochondrial biogenesis, a decline of which is common in aging.

This reverses significant age-associated declines in mitochondrial mass, and in effect stops aging in its tracks.1

How to Optimize Your Fitness After 50

The first step is to simply get moving, but beyond that you’ll want to tweak your workouts for your 50-year-old self. This does not mean taking it easy — it means tailoring your workouts so you can be in the best shape of your life, even if you’re 50 or beyond.

Work on Flexibility

Research published in the American Journal of Physiology found that an inability to touch your toes while in a seated position (sitting on the floor with your legs stretched out in front of you) might mean your arteries have become stiff, and you have an increased risk of heart attack or stroke.2

The study found participants’ flexibility scores correlated with their blood pressure, cardio-respiratory fitness, and other measures of heart health. Plus, losing flexibility — which happens as you get older if you don’t do anything to stop it — increases your risk of injuries and makes it harder to stay active.

Yoga and foam rolling can be useful for increasing flexibility, and I also recommend active isolated stretches developed by Aaron Mattes.

With Active Isolated Stretching, you hold each stretch for only 2 seconds, which works with your body’s natural physiological makeup to improve circulation and increase the elasticity of muscle joints.

This technique also allows your body to repair itself and prepare for daily activity. You can also use devices like the Power Plate to help you stretch and increase flexibility.

Ditch Long Hours of Cardio

Extreme endurance exercises, such as marathon and triathlon training, pose significant risks to your heart, some of which may be irreversible and life threatening.  Long-distance running can lead to acute volume overload, inflammation, thickening and stiffening of the heart muscle and arteries, coronary artery calcification, arrhythmias and sudden cardiac arrest. In fact, the following can occur when you exercise too much or too hard:

Your body can enter a catabolic state, in which your tissues break down
Excess cortisol (a stress hormone) can be released, which not only contributes to catabolism but also to chronic disease
You can develop microscopic tears in your muscle fibers (which may fail to heal if you continue over-exercising), and increased risk for injuries
Your immune system may be weakened
There’s little benefit, and possibly some harm, to doing cardio for more than 45 minutes at a time, and if you exercise effectively, your workouts should be even shorter.

High-Intensity Exercise Is for People Over 50 Too

Research presented at the May 2014 EuroPRevent meeting in Amsterdam, the Netherlands found that men who begin intensive exercise after age 40 get similar benefits to those who started prior to age 30 — as well as show several health advantages compared to men who do not exercise.

For instance, both exercise groups (those who started prior to 30 or after age 40) had resting heart rates of about 57 to 58 beats per minute, much lower than the men who did not exercise (who had resting heart rates of about 70 beats per minute).

The exercising men also had higher maximum oxygen uptake (a measure of physical fitness) and similar evidence of exercise-related improvements in heart structure and function.

Four minutes of exercise performed at extreme intensity four times a week may also improve your anaerobic capacity by 28 percent and your VO2 max and maximal aerobic power by 15 percent in as little as six weeks.

For comparison, those who performed an hour of steady cardiovascular exercise on a stationary bike five times a week only improved VO2 max by 10 percent, and their regimen had no effect on their anaerobic capacity.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) even boosts your body’s natural production of human growth hormone (HGH), which will help address the muscle loss and atrophy that typically occurs with aging.

Your production of vital human growth hormone increases by as much as 771 percent during an HIIT workout. The higher your levels of HGH, the healthier, stronger and more “youthful” you will be.

Try Exercises That Work Your Core

With exercise, sometimes the simplest of movements result in the greatest gains to your fitness, and this is certainly the case with core exercises, such as planks. To do a plank, you hold your body (the trunk portion) off the ground, making sure to hold it in a straight line.

Planking will help build your deep inner core muscles that lay the groundwork for that six-pack look. As your abdominal muscles become stronger, your mid-section will tighten. While building strength, planks also increase flexibility in your posterior muscle groups.

The muscles around your shoulders, collarbone, and shoulder blades will expand and stretch (an area that often receives little attention), as will your hamstrings and even the arches of your feet and your toes.

They’re also excellent for balance and posture, because in order to do a plank correctly you must engage your abs to stay upright. Side planks or planks with extensions are particularly beneficial for building balance, as are planks performed on a stability ball.

Recover Between Workouts

This is especially important when you’re exercising at high intensity. One of the key concepts of HIIT is that the intensity and amount of time spent working out are inversely proportional.

Meaning, the greater the intensity the less time you spend working out. Moreover, as intensity goes up, you also need longer recovery times in between sessions, so the frequency of your workouts also goes down. At most, you might be able to do HIIT three times a week. Any more than that will likely be highly counterproductive.

Get 10,000 Steps a Day

Taking 10,000 steps a day is a basic requirement for optimal health, like drinking adequate amounts of water each day. This is in addition to, not a replacement for, regular exercise, and will help to get you up out of your chair and counteract some of the effects of too much sitting.

Strength Training Is a Must for the 50 and Over Crowd
Without weight training, your muscles will atrophy and lose mass. Age-related loss of muscle mass is known as sarcopenia, and if you don’t do anything to stop it you can expect to lose about 15 percent of your muscle mass between your 30s and your 80s.3

Even if you’ve never done strength training before, now is the time to start. In addition to helping you maintain your muscle mass, strength training can help to build bone density, decrease your risk of falls, provide relief from joint pain and even improve blood sugar control.

Strength training also increases your body’s production of growth factors, which are responsible for cellular growth, proliferation, and differentiation. Some of these growth factors also promote the growth, differentiation, and survival of neurons, which helps explain why working your muscles also benefits your brain and helps prevent dementia.[/fusion_text][fusion_tagline_box backgroundcolor=”” shadow=”no” shadowopacity=”0.7″ border=”1″ bordercolor=”” highlightposition=”left” content_alignment=”left” link=”http://jump.gooffers.net/aff_c?offer_id=12779&aff_id=5828″ button=”Free Sample” linktarget=”_self” modal=”” button_size=”” button_type=”” button_shape=”” buttoncolor=”default” title=”Eliminate Crows Feet Around Your Eyes Fast” description=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=””]

Your skin is the permanent, protective coat you’ve been assigned to wear – good or bad –  during your lifetime.  It is charged with shielding your insides against the outside conditions, regulating your temperature and works like a giant solar panel to create that all-important vitamin D.    Regardless of its freckles, wrinkles, specks, spots or scars, it’s important to treat your skin like the fabulous designer outfit it is.

But let’s be honest: we all have regularly abused our skin, exposing it to sun, sweat, wind, chafing and more.

“If the eyes are the window to the soul, your skin is a mirror of your physical and emotional well-being,” says Karin Hermoni, Ph.D., skin-care expert and head of science and nutrition at Lycored, a wellness company based in New Jersey. “Adopting an effective beauty regimen today will be reflected in your skin in the future.”

Researchers and scientists are always making headway with new skin cream treatments that don’t involve painful plastic surgery or botox.  For example, Ziladerm eye cream has shown wonderful results for treating wrinkles around the eyes ( commonly known as crowsfeet ). The formula is really quite ingenious as their research team was able to successfully micro-segment the fragments of hydrolyzed collagen into small enough elements that your skin is able to absorb it far better. The result – almost instant reduction in spot wrinkle treatment. There is such a level of confidence in the cream’s formula they are offering it to new users for free (although you do have to pay $4 for shipping but hey, an $80 jar of high end anti-aging skin cream is still a pretty sweet deal) As the time of this writing, they still were offering the free sample at there website here.

The same company also offers a newly released serum called Neo Hydrate Gold which is designed as what they are calling a facelife in a box. This is a brand new treatment they launched before Christmas and are also giving it away as a free trial. You can claim your free bottle from their website located here.

Another great new skin cream / anti-aging formula is from Derma Clinics who are deeply embedded with Hollywood makeup artists who wanted a moisturizing cream for stars who were showing signs of wrinkles caused by constantly wearing makeup. Rumor has it there apparently was some major funding that went into the project by some of the stars in the sit come friends ( might explain Jennifer Aniston’s gorgeous skin at age 50 )  in the industry and something called ” Anti Aging Serum ” was developed. It worked so well that Derma Clinics began plans in 2017 to release it to the public through high-end boutiques in department stores. They are now rolling out the cream in a nationwide campaign and are offering it on a free first sample basis where like Ziladerm, you just have to pay for the cost of postage to get your free sample. ( unfortunately, it’s only available to people in the USA during their trial rollout )   You can claim your free sample from their website here.  If they are out of stock, please drop us an email and we will take down the link to their website.

The reason this burning sensation is called heartburn is because of the location of the esophagus to the middle of your chest.  Most people wrongly assume that the stomachs are down around their navel/belly button area – whereas that is where your intestines are.

In the above diagram, you can see how close the heart actually is to the top of the stomach and diaphragm and why if stomach acid was to creep up the esophagus, it can make the heart feel like it is burning.

Heartburn can be the result of a variety of different medical conditions including ulcers, gastritis,  H.pylori infections, or the rarely seen Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome but in most cases is something called GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disorder).  In part two of this guide to natural heartburn treatments, we will discuss how heartburn can lead to serious health conditions such as pneumonia and cardiac problems.

Heartburn drugs are a $15 billion a year industry in North America, mainly because it’s far more profitable to steer people to drugs than to healthier diets, stress reduction or herbal remedies using all natural nutrients like slippery elm, ginger, digestive enzymes and deglycyrrhizinated licorice root lozenges (DGL). In the alternative health world, we have a tendency to focus on superfoods — those products of nature that improve our health and nurture our bodies. Often, we skip over those foods
which have the opposite effect. These not-so-superfoods can harm not only your health in general but also the sensitive state of your eyes and vision.

That’s because certain foods can increase inflammation in the body, raise blood pressure, reduce nutrient absorption and harm your microbiome… all of which can negatively impact your eyes. Read on to learn about the worst foods for your eye health and vision and those foods that are actually good for your eyes.

1. Gluten

Gluten prevents absorption of vitamins and minerals, even for your eyes.

You must have known that this one was going to pop up somewhere on the list, right? Many of today’s most common health conditions and autoimmune disease can trace their origins back to glutenous foods, including wheat, barley, and rye.

Gluten causes
inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract by binding to the intestinal wall and contributing to leaky gut. This negatively impacts the good bacteria in your gut microbiome and prevents the absorption of many important vitamins and minerals. Cumulatively, this means that your eyes don’t function at their optimum level, receiving less than ideal levels of nutrients and a lower flow of oxygen-rich blood, due to your gluten-induced chronic stress state. This makes gluten one of the worst foods for your eye health and vision.

Other gluten-containing grains include spelt, durum, bulgar, triticale and oats. This means that the vast majority of baked goods contain gluten (unless otherwise stated), along with pasta, wraps and a wide range of processed goods. Read the package before buying to avoid damaging your eyes.

2. Soda and other sweetened beverages

Soda and most commercial beverages get their ultra-sweet taste due to high concentrations of high fructose corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup has been shown time and again to be amazingly detrimental to our health, significantly increasing our risk of cardiovascular disease by raising blood triglycerides and LDL cholesterol in the blood.

Increased blood pressure and elevated risk of cardiovascular disease make sweetened beverages one of the worst foods for eye health and vision. High blood pressure, in particular, can cause damage to the blood vessels in the retina, which in turn contributes to eye disease and poor vision.

Check out this post for more foods that contain high fructose corn syrup.

3. Sugary foods

Eating too much sugar can contribute to macular degeneration in the eyes.

While we’re on the topic of sweet beverages, why not take a stab at sugary foods as well? Studies show that eating too many sugary or starchy foods can contribute to macular degeneration, a major cause of blindness in older people and the most common eye disorder in the country. A study of over 4,000 U.S. adults aged 55 to 80 demonstrated that consumption of sugary foods and refined grains, such as white flour and most mass-produced pasta, meant a person had a higher risk of the disease.

This goes hand in hand with gluten-avoidance and suggests that you’re better off cutting back on all kinds of carbs and sugars if you’re serious about supporting healthy eyes.

4. Vegetable oils

Turns out, vegetable oils are one of the worst foods you can put in your body, and the same is true for the health of your eyes. Vegetable oils are highly modified plant oils, heated and processed to the point that they no longer resemble their original form. Therefore, our bodies have a hard time digesting them, and they can contribute to widespread inflammation. They also contain a very high percentage of polyunsaturated oils, the “bad boys” of the fat family, which promote free radical oxidation within the body.

That free radical damage can negatively impact the health of your eyes, while inflammation correlates to high blood pressure, which as we saw earlier can damage the blood vessels in your eyes. Foods that contain vegetable oils include most mass-produced goods, including basically anything you’ll find in the snack food and candy aisles of your supermarket. Stick to friendlier oils, like coconut, olive and avocado, and your eyes will thank you for it.

Foods that are good for the eyes

Enough of the doom and gloom. You’ve learned about some of the worst foods for your eye health and vision, but what about those foods that actually support your eyes?

Fortunately, this list is longer than the previous. Essentially, those foods which are high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory are generally good for you eyes. Here’s a quick rundown of the best foods for your eyes.

Black currants

The antioxidants in black currants are great for the eyes.

Black currants are absolutely loaded with antioxidants, so much so that they’re one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet. They contain anthocyanins, a potent family of antioxidants that fight free radical damage and stimulate cell repair in the body…including the eyes! They’re also rich in essential fatty acids, which are anti-inflammatory.

Bilberries

Not far behind black currants in the eye support department are bilberries, not to be confused with blueberries! They look pretty darn similar to blueberries, and like blueberries contain a high concentration of pro-vision anthocyanins. This means that they can provide an excellent natural treatment for macular degeneration and cataracts.

Kale

Kale and other dark leafy greens are high in lutein. This natural compound stimulates eye health and promotes good vision. Overcooking your leafy greens will denature some of the lutein contained within, so stick to a light sauté or gentle steaming.

Wild-caught salmon

Wild caught salmon contains antioxidants to protect the eyes.

Whether you’re eating sockeye salmon or pink salmon, wild-caught salmon is an amazingly good food for your eyes. Salmon contains high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. These provide structural support for cell membranes and lower inflammation in the body. Wild-caught salmon also contains astaxanthin. This antioxidant protects against a wide range of eye diseases.
